How Atal Pension Yojana Works — Step by Step
You must be an Indian citizen aged 18–39 years, have a savings bank account, and not be an income-tax payer (NPS subscriber exclusion applies).
Select your desired monthly pension at age 60: ₹1,000 / ₹2,000 / ₹3,000 / ₹4,000 / ₹5,000.
Monthly contributions are auto-debited from your savings account. The younger you are, the lower your contribution.
For eligible subscribers who joined before March 2016, Govt co-contributes 50% (max ₹1,000/year) for 5 years.
At age 60, you get the chosen monthly pension for life. On death, your nominee gets the accumulated corpus.
